This Saturday, June 26 Hands Across the Sands will be at it again! In hopes to stop dependence on fossil fuels, this organization is once again joining hands across the nation’s beaches, parks and cities to stop the dangers of offshore oil drilling.

Hands Across the Sands was founded back in October of 2009. Dan Rauschkolb the founder organized a statewide event on February 13, 2010. All over Florida people gathered to send a message to their legislators and Governor Crist that they did not want the offshore drilling bans lifted in Florida waters. This Saturday it’s happening again but not only in Florida, all over the nation and the world!

Hands Across The Sand’s mission is to change our engery policy away from its dependence on fossil fuels and into the light of clean energy. The aim is to convince our leaders to abandon expanded offshore oil drilling and adopt policies that encourage clean and renewable energy resources.

handsThis weekend beaches in Palm Beach are participating, so you can join hands!

Go Green with the Yellow Pages!

Right now in my closet there is a Yellow Pages and the spine of it has never been opened. It’s basically just collecting dust and reminds me a lot of my college English book. I cannot remember the last time I used the physical book, I usually go online and find what I’m looking for there.  Yet I cannot rid myself of those beloved Yellow Pages. I feel too guilty, every year  they come to my doorstep and every year I put them in the hall closet until the next one comes again.  Well the Yellow Pages have finally taken note to how many people aren’t using that bright yellow book.  And they’ve come up with a great solution, Go Green.  They’re are inviting you to Go Green with the Yellow Pages.  You now can choose whether or not you want to receive the informative book.  Personally I love this option and I’ve already signed up!

People’s Design Award Goes To The Humble Bicycle

bike - coolTreehugger.com reports that the People’s Design Award for 2009 goes to the Trek Lime bicycle. It’s a nice looking ride, and was designed to be simple and easy to ride, while still providing some of the perks of high-tech bicycling. Of course, being mid-priced also gets kudos in my book, but I would get this bike if I lived in the right neighborhood.

Do you bike a lot, whether to work or for fun? What are some of your favorite bike trails?
