It’s Time for a Picnic At Home!
Posted on July 27, 2010 · Leave a CommentTurtle Cove Apartment Homes proudly has a large gazebo with picnic areas for our residents! So why not use it?
It’s always great to eat at home and in this great West Palm Beach weather why not eat outside. Grab a couple of friends and neighbors and take it outside!
Having a picnic doesn’t require much effort on anyone’s part. You can even bring it back to its roots and make it a potluck picnic. There are many items you need to bring and different types of foods, but here are my favorites!
- A blanket or table cover
- Cooler/Ice Chest
- Picnic Basket (Must have for a picnic!)
- Re-usable Containers
- Napkins
- Fried Chicken!
- Sandwiches
- Water
- Fruit
- Vegetable tray
What do you bring on a picnic?

A Hurricane is a Coming…
Posted on July 22, 2010 · Leave a CommentFlorida is closing in on the hurricane season and we all at Turtle Cove need to be prepared. The weather can get pretty crazy here and if we’re not properly prepared it wouldn’t be pretty. That’s the beauty of Florida isn’t it though? With a great location and mostly great weather comes the bad spurts. Remember these few tips on being prepared for the weather!
- Do as your told- If you’re told to evacuate your area during bad weather, please do as your told and evacuate as soon as you can.
- Create a Plan- If you aren’t told to evacuate you still need to prepare. Where are you supposed to go in case the weather gets foul? Do you have a central area to go to? Follow up on those questions
- Supply Kit- Make a kit of supplies; first aid, food, blankets, water… full list
Keep an eye out on the weather and be prepared always

When I Search I Use…
Posted on July 15, 2010 · Leave a Comment
Google. I’m an avid user too, I don’t usually “cheat” on my Google. I’m loyal, it’s not out of habit either, Google is really dependable. They drive information over and over and the correct information too. There are other search engines out there of course. Yahoo, which are some people’s old favorite and the newest addition Bing. What do you use to search for information? Vote on our poll and let us know what you use! Comment below and tell us!

Things you should NOT buy new…
Posted on June 29, 2010 · Leave a CommentShopping is always fun, doesn’t matter if you’re a man or a woman. If you want something and you can afford to buy it, shopping is fun. But I know when I go shopping I try to find the best deals no matter if I can afford the regular price or not. I’m trying to save as much money as I can always.
Saving money sometime means you can’t buy everything new, and that’s okay for some things. When I first moved into my apartment a lot of my items had been used before because that’s all I could afford. Now that I’m older I could afford everything new but I still know that there are some items that shouldn’t be bought new. Yahoo has a great list of items that you shoudn’t buy new, check it out.
- Home Accents- Half the time they hang on the wall or in another spot where you never handle it again. Buying home accents used is a great idea!
- Sports Equipment- I bought my bike from Craigslist and it was in great condition and a great price! The bike was made in Europe and definitely cost more than I paid for it!
- DVDs/CDs- What’s a scratch on the cover? The movie or music will still play fine.
- Cars- Do you know how much a car will lose in value when you drive it off the lot new??
- Books- Books are a great way to live a great story, but if the book has it’s own story. Even better
- Pets- You can spend hundreds on a “new” pet from a pet store. Give a pet a better home when you adopt
There are websites that allow you to either sell or buy items from past owners if you’d like to save some money. Craigslist and Freecycle are the two most popular that come to mind.
